Roald Dahl's popular children's story, Matilda, has been adapted for the stage.

 

Matilda the Musical is on at the Cambridge Theatre, London.  This is a Royal Shakespeare Company production with a  new script by Dennis Kelly and music and lyrics by Tim Minchin.

Opera lovers will remember Sena Jurinac's richly toned soprano voice in a variety of operatic roles such as Mimi (La Bohème), Elisabetta (Don Carlos), Desdemona (Otello), Pamina (The Magic Flute), and many, many others. 

 

Her death on 22nd November 2011 is a very sad event for the world of opera.  A more detailed account of her life can be found on Suite101.

STOMP,  founded in 1991 by percussionist Luke Cresswell and actor Steve McNicholas, celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2011. 

 

The percussion dance act has been enjoyed by millions all over the world.  Furthermore, would-be stompers can take part in workshops tailor-made to meet personal/group requirements. 

 

STOMP can be seen at the Ambassadors Theatre in London, the Orpheum in New York, or at various locations around the world.  An article published on Suite101 explores the STOMP experience.

The Theatre Royal Brighton offers a wide variety of productions including home-grown shows by local theatrical companies, the best of London's West End shows, together with touring shows from across the UK. The Theatre Royal - Brighton's leading entertainment venue

The Theatre Royal, which is part of the Ambassador Theatre Group, celebrated its 200th anniversary in 2007. As Brighton's leading entertainment venue, the theatre has a reputation for offering a wide variety of productions catering for all tastes, ranging from Sean the Sheep and Bob's Big Theatre Build for younger visitors, and An Evening with Dom Joly, The Rat Pack Vegas, Fascinating Aida and La Cage Aux Folles for adult audiences.

Buying tickets for Theatre Royal performances

The Theatre Royal seating plan has four levels of seats: Stalls, Royal Circle, Second Circle and Gallery. Reservations can be made in person at the Box Office, by fax or post or by telephoning the Box Office at 08448 717 650 (a booking fee applies).

Reservations for people with disabilities

At most performances, a £5 concession applies on seats on the top three price bands for people with disabilities and their companion. Special seating requirements should be discussed with the Theatre's Access Booking Office on 08448 717 677, or by telephoning the theatre directly on 01273 764405.

Bookings can be made by Typetalk. If you are a text phone user, replace the first five numbers of the Access booking number, 08448 717 677, with the number 18001.

Sennheiser Infrared Sound System

Visitors wishing to use the Sennheiser infrared sound amplification system should ask for receiving equipment from the kiosk in the main entrance. It is essential to advise the Access Booking Office when making reservations to ensure your seat is within the infrared area.

Guide dogs welcome

The Theatre welcomes all hearing, guide and other working dogs, to all parts of the theatre.
